So, almost a year and no updates.. Its probably because I have been spending so much time with my lovely girlfriend that I met at the beginning of this year. Anyway, besides working on quake 4 I havent really spent much time on anything too interesting besides this one piece of art. The idea came from us wanting to have something that felt like a fantasy style map to hang above our fireplace, here is a sample of the work in progress..
7/23/2003 - Enter the banana hammick
It seems like forever since the bumper nut craze was discovered, but here we are again with something new and refreshing. Check out this commercial I found on a random movies site.. Its disturbing, but quite funny.
A friend of mine sent me this link, and I must say... WOW... Just imagine, your driving down the road, minding your own business, then... WHAM.. Your seeing some fake business on the car in front of you... Dont take my word for it, just go to the link and see for yourself..
Ok, you may have to actually admit to yourself that you did watch gijoe when you were growing up to find these funny but its worth it. Anyone who ever watched the cartoon must remember the little saftey tips they had at the end of an episode, well, someone has taken these and remixed them a bit and man, are they funny. My favorite though has to be the Thin Ice one. They are in quicktime format, so, well, get quicktime if you dont have it.
So, we have all had a laugh at this kids expense. Alot of people have asked me why this is funny (mostly reporters). Well, alot of people like to focus on his weight but thats not why its funny imho. The video is funny because someone finnaly got caught on tape pretending they were some badass martial arts guy. The reality is most of us have done that at one point in time but thankfully didnt have a video recorder taping us. Anyhow, I edited the tape because I thought
it would fit perfect in a starwars theme and also because I really like editing footage. Well, now reporters wont leave me alone, they even call me at work (which I will no longer be accepting calls at). Ghyslain, if you ever read this, take advantage of your sudden fame and use it however you can, you certaining deserve it at this point ;)
5/07/2003 - Jedi Video Madness
Well, it appears the video has hit prime time.. A forum post over at
TheForce.NET indicates that FOX has broadcast the little movie on the air. WOW.. Anyway, the more amusing part of the Force.NET posts is the people who are whining because their fan films arent being hosted and this one is. They then feel the need to belittle the effects that I did, saying they are poorly done, etc.. Ok ok, they arent the best, what do you want for my first use of after effects and a crappy original source video. I had fun making it and people seem to enjoy watching it, so thats all that matters really.
